The Academy Children’s Choir is the perfect place for children who love to sing!  Our program helps each student bring out his or her best voice by emphasizing technique, including proper posture and breathing.  Students learn to sing freely and without tension in a way that is healthy and safe.  

A wide variety of musical styles are explored each week.  Students never knew they could have so much fun while learning skills such as note-reading and solfege!  This class is the ideal introduction to singing before formal voice lessons.

Children who sing in choruses have academic success and valuable life skills! 

• The majority of parents surveyed believe multiple skills increased after their child joined a chorus. Seventy-one percent say their child has become more self-confident, 70% say their child's self-discipline has improved, and 69% state their child's memory skills have improved.
• Educators observe that children who sing are better participants in group activities, have better emotional expression, and exhibit better emotional management.
• Children who participate in a chorus get significantly better grades than children who have never sung in a choir. Forty-five percent of parents whose children sing state their child receives “all or mostly A's” in mathematics (vs. 38% of non-choir parents) and 54% get “all or mostly A's” in English and other language arts classes (vs. 43%).

Our Children's Choral program also serves as a great opportunity for students already studying piano, guitar, flute or other instruments.  Ear-training is an important part of learning to play a musical instrument and our Children’s Choir is a wonderful place to sharpen those skills.
