Lori Williams

PIANO

Music has been a major part of Lori's life since she began piano lessons at the age of 7 in Mint Hill. Lori has been teaching piano privately for over 15 years. One can easily tell when speaking with Lori that she has a teacher’s heart! She enjoys customizing lessons to meet each child’s specific learning style and needs. She writes, “I love working with children and helping them learn to appreciate music!” A favorite part of Lori’s recitals has long been “Our Songs,” a collection of songs her students compose and perform themselves. Lori’s specialty is beginner through Intermediate level piano students. Lori is also the co-director of the Academy's popular Mo'zArt Summer Camps.

Since Lori was a teenager, she has accompanied, assisted and/or directed children’s choirs as well as hand bell, youth and adult choirs. Currently she serves as pianist at Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church. Lori holds a Bachelor of Science degree from UNC Chapel Hill. She also holds a professional membership with the National Federation of Music Clubs. Lori is married and the proud mother of three children: Katie, Hannah and Michael who also play piano, violin and flute.

Mrs. Lori is such an amazing piano teacher! My daughter had to change her schedule and teacher due to a scheduling conflict and thought Mrs. Lori appeared to be a good fit for her after seeing her at a recital. Mrs. Lori exceeded every expectation that we had. She is incredibly enthusiastic, talented and makes learning piano so much fun! Elaina plays piano at home every day, sometimes multiple times a day since starting lessons with Mrs. Lori. This is Elaina’s 8th year of piano. She is always excited about her next lesson. She’s playing duets and is learning how to sight read. Mrs. Lori always gives her a new challenge which she thrives on. It’s an awesome experience.

I have had many piano teachers since I began taking lessons at the age of five, but few have impacted my development as a pianist and as a person the way that Lori Williams has. I first began taking from Mrs. Williams at the age of eight and looked forward to each lesson that I had with her (well, at least when I had practiced). She encouraged me to try my best, but remained patient and supportive when I struggled with certain pieces or concepts. Mrs. Williams is a wonderful teacher and I highly recommend her to any student.
