Megan Magden Postle has been teaching piano and voice lessons for over ten years. She graduated from the University of Washington, Seattle and had additional studies at The Hartt School of Music. Megan recently completed her MAT at UNC Charlotte. She was a member of the voice faculty at the Hartt School of Music Community Division, and here in Charlotte acts as Director of Music for Trinity Episcopal School. We are delighted to have Megan on our voice and piano faculty at Charlotte Academy of Music!
As a professional vocalist, Megan has had the pleasure of performing in a variety of musicals and operas. Some of her favorites include The Music Man, Pirates of Penzance, Company, Miss Liberty, and Carmen. Her most favorite roles to date have been Joanna in Sweeney Toddand Maria in West Side Story. With a love of musical theater she has shared since the age of 11, Megan has music directed and accompanied musical theater productions and programs for past 9 years. Her love of all genres and styles of music has also brought Megan to serving as a Choral Director, section leader and soloist for several churches across the country. Some of her other performing experience includes classical, jazz, bluegrass and sacred music. As a choreographer for the Colchester Community Theatre, Megan choreographed the musical productions of Grease, Annie, Hello Dolly! and Oliver. As a teaching artist with the Hartford Children’s Theatre, Megan taught musical theatre courses as well as voice class (teaching techniques on correct and healthy vocal production), and rehearsed students ranging in age from 11-21 in solo, group and ensemble music for Fame and The Wiz.
Megan’s teaching philosophy includes using a variety of teaching styles and methods to meet the needs of the individual student. Through her professional memberships with Music Educators National Conference (MENC), the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) and the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), Megan stays current on the latest teaching techniques, repertoire and performance/competition opportunities for her students. She believes in a well-rounded musical education that includes the teaching and developing skills in the areas of ear training, sight-reading, repertoire from all musical periods and various genres, improvisation and composition. Her passion is sharing the gift of music! She hopes to inspire other students as she has been inspired by her own musical experiences.
Megan’s husband, Damon, is also a musician and is the Director of Bands at Trinity Episcopal School.
Megan is very funny and has a lot of interesting stories. She's encourages me to try new things and to try new types of music. She has also been encouraging me to try out for local shows and I might do that some day soon. She likes a lot of the same music as I do. Megan is a good voice teacher because she's patient with me and helps me understand what I'm doing right and wrong with my singing.
