The Academy is pleased to introduce our newest faculty member, Alexandra Sims. Alexandra is the Director of our vocal ensemble, the Charlotte Glee Club.
Alexandra holds a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from UNC Greensboro, and is a choral director/teacher at Northwest School of the Arts. While a student, she was the Director of the collegiate a capella group, the UNCG Sapphires. She studied voice under Anne Albert, D.M.A. and piano under Joseph DiPiazza, D.M.A. At Northwest Alexandra has served as the Musical Director for the school's productions of Annie, Jr (2008), Seussical, Jr (2009) and Fiddler on the Roof, Jr (2010).
Alexandra brings to the Academy an enthusiasm for teaching and, in addition to her expertise in choral directing, accomplishments in music composition and arranging. She enjoys singing with the premier choral ensemble of Carolina Voices, VOX, and spending time with her husband, Winston, the director of the Theatre program at Marvin Ridge High School.
