welcome cello instructor, Victoria!
The Academy is so pleased to welcome Victoria McLaughlin to our faculty!
Victoria began her career as a cellist in Colombia, South America, where she played with various orchestras. She taught at the Batuta Foundation, a state program which brings music instruction to children living in the most remote and economically depressed towns in the country, like the Amazon rainforest. Victoria holds a BA from the University of Manizales. Instructors have included Henrik Sarzicky and John Cloer.
Since her arrival to the U.S. she has performed at various venues with the Charlotte Philharmonic, Charlotte Civic Orchestra, Charlotte Cello Choir, Vivace Quartet, Rebecca Rippy and Company and a band formed through the Intentional Living Institute. Victoria has received training in Suzuki Pedagogy through institutes in Virginia, North and South Carolina. Her students have successfully participated in recitals, Festivals and Regional Orchestra auditions, including acceptance into the North Carolina Western Regional Orchestra.
Besides having a contagious enthusiasm for her instrument, Victoria lends her more than 10 years of teaching experience with high standards and the conviction that, yes,"Every child - and adult – can!" |
