Welcome to SPLASH! Summer Camps at Charlotte Academy of Music — where kids dive into the performing arts, discover what they’re made of, and have the kind of summer they’ll still be talking about in September.
18 Years of Summer Magic
For 18 years, CAM has been Charlotte’s home for kids who love to create, perform, and express themselves. We’ve seen shy kids become scene-stealers. Quiet kids find their roar. Kids who “weren’t sure about this whole thing” become the ones who never want to leave. Summer camp is where that magic happens.
Something for Every Kid
Whether your child is a born performer or just thinking about dipping their toe in the arts, we’ve got a camp with their name on it.
- Musical Theatre & Production Camps — Big shows, real rehearsals, actual curtain calls. For ages 8–17, our SHINE summer production gives kids the full performance experience — vocals, choreography, blocking, character work, and the rush of performing for a live audience.
- Creative Arts Camps — Campers spend their days creating visual art, learning about acting, dancing, and musical in these immersive camps.
- Specialty Theme Camps — K-POP? Yes. Wicked? Absolutely. Bluey and Pokémon? You better believe it. We build camps around the things kids already love, then teach them something amazing along the way.
- Art Camps — For the kid who’d rather paint than perform (we see you, and we love you), our art camps are full of color, creativity, and self-expression.
More Than Fun — Although It’s Definitely That Too
Research from the American Camp Association shows that summer camps builds social connection, perseverance, and confidence that kids carry with them long after summer ends. At CAM, we see that play out every single day. When a kid learns to harmonize with a group, take direction, cheer for their castmates, and step onto a stage in front of a real audience — they’re building something that goes way beyond the performance. They’re growing. It’s one of our favorite things to witness!
What Does Success Look Like at SPLASH!?
It doesn’t look like a flawless performance. It looks like a kid who was apprehensive about singing a solo — and did it anyway. It looks like two strangers becoming best friends by Tuesday. It looks like a child who walked in unsure of themselves and walked out standing a little taller. That’s what we’re here for. That’s what 18 summers of SPLASH! have taught us.
