Our children, Sophia (16) and Benjamin (13), have been taking piano lessons at CAM since they were both seven years old. I’m a little embarrassed to write that we were initially drawn to CAM not because of its amazing teachers, but because of its convenient location near where we used to live in Mint Hill. However, we have stayed with CAM all these years (9 years and counting!) because of its caring, competent, and encouraging music teachers, staff, and director. Our children have had the opportunity to learn from several different teachers over the years and they have enjoyed all of them. In fact, they would never ever consider going to any other music school in Charlotte – that’s how tightly bonded they are with their teachers and the school.
There are numerous opportunities at CAM to explore myriad artistic pursuits, to provide community service, and to push one’s music skills to higher levels through competitions. Our children participated in summer camps (the ukulele camp was their favorite), the Piano Festival in the spring, concert performances, and RCM exams. The common thread weaving it all together is the nurturing and devoted teachers who encourage our children to do their best in their music lessons and in life. We are grateful that CAM has given our children both a supportive music family and a comprehensive music education, and hopeful that the joy of making music will stay with them their entire lives.”
