SHINE Musical Theatre and Charlotte Academy of Music, in partnership with Concord Theatricals, are proud to bring The Wizard of Oz to the stage! This is the full length, 2 hour Wizard of Oz production. Follow the yellow brick road in this delightful stage adaptation of L. Frank Baum’s beloved tale, featuring the iconic musical score from the MGM film. The timeless tale, in which young Dorothy Gale travels from Kansas over the rainbow to the magical Land of Oz, continues to thrill audiences worldwide.
Enrollment
- Casting Students in Grades 6-12 (Have a younger child that is interested in being in this productions? See Here!)
- Production Fee $60 (This non-refundable fee covers the cast-t-shirt as well as helps offset a portion of the costume cost. Due at time of enrollment.)
- Tuition $795 (Split into two equal installments of $397.50)
What does your tuition cover? Many things! Your tuition covers purchasing the rights from Concord Theatricals, directing team compensation, tech team compensation, scripts, costumes, playbills, rental of the theater, professional photography and videography, sets, props, cast t-shirts, advertising, and more. (Nearly all of these costs are at least double what a theatre company absorbs for a Jr show.)
If you’re wondering what it will be like if you’re cast in the ensemble… The Wizard of Oz is the perfect show to be a part of the ensemble as you will have multiple roles, costumes, songs, and choreography!
Auditions
Audition Packet can be found HERE. Auditions will be held on August 27th at CAM. Please come prepared on Audition Day to complete a conflict calendar, noting any rehearsals you will need to miss because of prior commitment. Missed Audition Day? Rehearsals
- Beginning September 9th. Tuesdays 5:30-8:30PM, Thursdays 5:30-8:30PM, Sundays 3:30-5:30PM. A rehearsal calendar will be provided and cast members will only be called on the dates we are rehearsing their character’s scenes/musical numbers. We do not believe students should drop all other activities to be in a show! We will work around conflicts you list on the provided calendar provided on Audition Day.
- Plan for additional rehearsal time during Tech Week (week of November 17th.)
Performances
Performances will be on Saturday, November 22, 2025 and Sunday, November 23, 2025.
