Joanna Dendrolivanos

Joanna is a graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music where she obtained a music degree in Vocal Performance. She made her operatic debut as Mercedes in the opera Carmen. She has performed with Sarasota Opera, Boston Lyric Opera where she performed many roles including Carmen, Rigoletto, Werther, and many more. She even performed with Opera AEGEAN in Greece and the Islands! Joanna’s love for music extends to Musical Theatre. One of her students is currently performing the role of Young Elsa in Frozen on Broadway! Two of Joanna’s  favorite roles include Mother Abbess in The Sound of Music and Bloody Mary in South Pacific.  Joanna has been teaching for over 25 years and loves to teach all genres of music and especially enjoys musical theatre. She teaches breathing techniques, placement of sound, and connection of the chest and head voice. She also prepares her students for auditions, working on presentation and acting in addition to singing. Joanna believes it is important for all music students to have a foundation in piano, and welcomes piano students as well as voice students who wish to include piano training in their lessons.

Joanna is married and has two children. Originally from the Boston area, North Carolina has been her home for the past 10 years, most specifically Matthews! Joanna writes, “I am thrilled to be part of the faculty at CAM and love working with students, enriching their lives with beautiful music!”
