Nicole Turski

Nicole Turski is an accomplished choral performer and teacher. Originally from Amherst, Ohio; about 40 miles West of Cleveland, Nicole relocated to North Carolina in 2007 to pursue her Bachelors of teaching in Choral Music Education from Bowling Green State University. Since then, Nicole has taught middle and high school in many areas around the state. She is currently the Choral Director and music theory teacher at Myers Park High School in Charlotte. Passionate about all genres of music, she has also had the privilege to perform in community musical theatre since she was 7 years old. Favorite roles include Kim McAfee in Bye Bye Birdie, Margy Frake in State Fair and Joanne in Godspell.

Nicole believes in establishing a strong music theory background, focusing on note names, values and key signatures. She also believes that Kodaly solfege is very important in audiation for both piano and voice. Breathing techniques and tonal placement are also important. She has helped prepare her students for auditions both in choral and personal settings.

Nicole is thrilled to be joining the CAM faculty. She lives with her husband Rick, who is a technical theater teacher at Providence High School, 3 year old son Noah, and 2 dogs Daisy and Rummy.
