Supporting Your Child in Music Lessons

When a child begins music lessons parents often have questions about how they can help their child be successful. Even parents who have a music background may feel uncertain of their role and wonder how they might help. Should I sit in on practice sessions? Should I sit in on the lessons? How often should I communicate with the teacher? Should I assist with written assignments at home? These are just a few of the questions that parents often have. As music teachers, we hear these types of questions frequently, and we welcome them! There is so much parents can do to assist their children in their music journey.

On Sunday, September 16th at 3:00 PM CAM teachers, Allison Surratt and Regina Ziliani will be leading a free parent workshop on “How to Support Your Music Student.” Parents of CAM students are invited to attend and learn what to expect from music lessons, gain a better understanding on how to help their child, and learn some of Allison and Regina’s best practice tips. Parents must reserve their space to attend and can do so on our Sign-Up Form.

We look forward to providing you with tools that will help your child grow to their fullest musical potential!
